After two months of construction work, the new furnace named ‘Světluška‘ has seen the light of day. Its name symbolises our lights (light = světlo), the location of the glass factory in Světlá nad Sázavou, and last but not least, BOMMA’s bright future. The Světluška furnace was christened by priest Zbigniew Czendlik, and many people gathered to celebrate this special occasion.
The christening of the furnace is a traditional act in glassmaking craftsmanship. The original Klára furnace was dismantled and replaced with the new one. This new furnace will run 24/7, and it contains 9 tons of crystal-clear glass which excels in exceptional clarity. Along with lighting, the company continues to produce bespoke crystal for international luxury brands like Tiffany, Dior, and Chanel, and supplies selected partners with special pieces impossible to produce at their own glassworks.
BOMMA continually invests in state-of-the-art technologies making our glassworks among the most advanced facilities worldwide. Thanks to these high-end technologies, we are able to produce BOMMA Cullet – studio glass suitable for glassmaking studios around the globe. The Světluška furnace will now ensure an even higher production of this material.
